Your Norsteel building is on its way! This guide will ensure a stress-free delivery so you can start building as soon as it arrives. Planning for the arrival of your Norsteel steel building is an exciting step in your project. To ensure a smooth and efficient delivery, we have put together this comprehensive guide outlining everything you need to know—from how your EasyBuild kit will arrive to proper unloading and storage procedures.Â
How Is My DIY EasyBuild Kit Delivered?
Your Norsteel building will be shipped to you on a flatbed truck. In many cases, we can fit two or even three EasyBuild structures per truckload, helping to reduce shipping costs—savings that we pass on to you. The truck used for your delivery will be approximately 53 feet in length, and it is crucial to ensure that there is enough space at your site for the truck to maneuver easily.Â
Before shipping day, we will contact you with all necessary details about your delivery. The truck driver will also call you directly to confirm the estimated arrival time, so you know exactly when to expect your shipment. We recommend planning ahead to avoid any last-minute obstacles that could delay offloading.Â
Preparing Your Site for Delivery
To ensure a seamless delivery process, it is important to prepare your site ahead of time. Here are some key considerations:
- Clear Access: The truck must be able to enter and exit the site without obstruction. Ensure there are no low-hanging wires, overhanging branches, or other obstructions that could interfere with delivery.
- Ground Conditions: The ground should be level and firm. If your site is muddy or uneven, consider laying down temporary support, such as gravel or plywood, to help stabilize the area.
- Designate a Storage Area: Choose a dry and well-ventilated location for storing building components before assembly. This will help protect materials from environmental elements.
Final Payment & Next Steps
As a friendly reminder, final payment is due seven business days before your scheduled delivery. You will receive an invoice with payment details for your convenience.Â
In the days leading up to delivery, we will send you a detailed packing list to familiarize you with your inventory. The driver will also provide a hard copy of this list upon arrival, along with your construction drawings.Â
Unloading Your Building
Under the terms of your contract, you are responsible for unloading your building components from the truck. We allocate a maximum of two hours for this process, so it is important to be well-prepared.Â
Your building kit will arrive in a large, banded bundle on the flatbed. The easiest way to offload is with a forklift or similar machinery.
Packaging Details:
- Your kit will arrive in one large bundle, secured with bands.Â
- The main components are layered within a skid, which can be offloaded one layer at a time.Â
- The heaviest item is the hardware box, weighing approximately 4,000 lbs. This wooden box measures 22’ long, 3’ high, and 4’ wide.Â
- The remaining bundles weigh between 1,500 and 2,000 lbs each.Â

Unloading Steps:
- Use a strong pair of metal cutters to remove the banding.Â
- One of the advantages of the EasyBuild system is that it can also be offloaded manually. If you choose to offload by hand, you will need five or six strong individuals to complete the process, which typically takes about two hours. Â
- Take photos of the shipment on the truck before unloading for reference.Â
- Check all inventory against the provided packing list. In the unlikely event that any components are missing or damaged, take photos and contact Norsteel immediately so we can promptly resolve the issue.Â
Common Challenges and Solutions
Sometimes, unexpected challenges arise during delivery and unloading. Here are some common issues and how to address them:Â
- Limited Truck Access: If the truck cannot reach your site due to narrow roads or obstacles, we will work with you to find a solution. We can transfer your load to a smaller truck or arrange an alternative unloading location.Â
- Lack of Equipment: If a forklift is unavailable, you will need sufficient manpower to unload the components manually. Many customers ask whether it is possible to offload their building by hand. Manual offloading is only an option for buildings that are 20′ wide x 30′ long x 12′ high or smaller. If you choose to unload manually, plan for six strong individuals and approximately two hours to complete the process. Two people should stand on the truck to hand the pieces down to the others on the ground. Once all building parts are offloaded, the crate itself will also need to be removed.Â
- Weather Conditions: If rain or snow is expected, plan to store materials in a covered area or use tarps to protect them.Â

Proper Storage Procedures
Once your components are offloaded, proper storage is crucial to protect your investment. Follow these best practices to keep your building materials in optimal condition before assembly:Â
- Use wood blocking to elevate panels and allow moisture to drain.Â
- Ensure air circulation by placing wood blocking between stacked bundles.Â
- Cover materials with a tarp or plastic sheeting, leaving ventilation at the bottom to prevent condensation.Â
- Keep insulation dry by storing it in a protected area.Â
- Organize Components: Stack similar components together for easy identification during assembly.Â

Your Norsteel package includes an assembly manual along with certified engineered drawings. These documents will guide you through the construction process. It is recommended that you review these materials ahead of time so you are familiar with the steps involved.Â
