Customers often come to us needing more space because they have outgrown their current buildings. Fortunately, even after years of use, Pre-engineered Metal buildings<\/a> are relatively easy to expand by lengthening.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u200bOften we work with customers who are expanding their businesses in planned phases of development. Their anticipated growth often requires timed calculated increases in square footage added to the original metal building. When it is deemed a possibility at the time of the original inquiry, the pre-engineered steel building can be designed with a future expansion in mind. In such cases, an expandable Endwall is used in place of the Post and Beam Endwall, so that adding frames to the steel structure later is even simpler for the end user.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u200bRe: Fernie Brewing Company Expansion<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\r\n

In 2014 Fernie Brewing Company required an expansion to our existing Microbrewery production facility.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

We were planning a 50x100x20 addition to be used for warehousing, shipping and receiving. We contacted Norsteel and after explaining our requirements we were put in contact with Michael Dawson one of Norsteel’s sales consultants. Our plans were somewhat more complex because we wanted to join this addition to an existing building which was not manufactured by Norsteel.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

Also, the addition was required to be 10 feet higher than the original structure. Once I explained our needs and requirements to Michael, he designed the addition.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

Throughout the whole process, we were extremely pleased with our working relationship. The drawings fit our requirements as well as meeting the building code requirements of the City of Fernie. After review by all parties concerned, the order was placed and a delivery date was set. Everything went according to the schedule and the building arrived on time. The work completed by Norsteel was done in a very professional manner and I would not hesitate to recommend them.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

Expanding an existing prefab metal building can be accomplished with ease. Endwalls are simply un-bolted and removed and depending on the length of the expansion, additional clear-spanning rigid frames are bolted into place. The removed Endwall framing can often be reused in its new location. Matching roof and wall panels are then added to complete the expanded building envelope. Often the expansion is accomplished with a seamless appearance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
